Anita Moreno earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, MI and a CWCP certification (Certified Workers’ Compensational Professional) from Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. These degrees, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, MI, helped her to focus on a rewarding Human Resources career within the Casino and Automotive industries in Michigan and later in Georgia. She attended the MIP (Management Internship Program) and received a certification through the University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI. Anita spent 16 years in the electrical utility industry with Flint Energies in central Georgia.
While at Flint she started her career directly under the VP of Corporate Services as an Organizational Coordinator, using her specialized talent and enthusiasm for Human Resources she helped recruit new talent for Flint and develop a Line Technician training program for the 17 counties served by the utility along with other progressive programs for Flint employees. After two years at Flint, she was promoted to Manager of Member Services, managing Field Services, the Call Center, and Frontline member service operations for the electric cooperative. Most recently, Anita promoted to serve as the Director of Member Advocacy. In this role she worked closely with local CAP’s and other agencies finding resources to help Flint’s members pay for their utilities at an average of $1.5M/year. She also helped pilot the first fuel switch home in Georgia through W/E Together at Beneficial Electrification League (BEL). Anita now serves as the Director of W/E Together at BEL.
